Green Teacher of The Year
We are thrilled to announce that Ms. Maureen Mason, our dedicated Grade 5 Teacher at GAA, has been honored with the Green Teacher of the Year award at COP28UAE! This prestigious recognition highlights her exceptional commitment to promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) throughout her teaching career in Indonesia, New Zealand, and the UAE.
Ms. Mason's achievements include embedding the SDG goals into the curriculum, including the Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition. Her passion for inspiring and empowering students to take action for a sustainable future is evident in her work, fostering a sense of responsibility among the younger generation.
Noteworthy is Ms. Mason's involvement with community projects, such as Operation Smile, a non-profit organization providing free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial anomalies to children around the world. By making these connections, she goes beyond the classroom, contributing to the broader impact of the goals. Furthermore, her efforts provide students with opportunities to actively engage in community projects, promoting a hands-on approach to SDGs.
The Green Teacher of the Year award is part of the ARN Road to COP28, Save the Planet initiative, recognizing individuals who are making significant contributions to environmental sustainability. Ms. Mason's accomplishment is a testament to her dedication, and we are incredibly proud to have such an inspiring educator as part of our GAA community. Congratulations, Ms. Mason, on this well-deserved honor!
